Beat Licensing

Buy a beat, pick the right licence

Every beat in the Simvicious store comes with a licence — a contract that sets out how you can use the instrumental. Whether you're dropping a single, a mixtape or a full project, the licence you choose decides how many streams, sales and videos you're covered for, and whether the beat stays available to other artists or becomes yours alone. Here's what each one includes, so you can pick before you buy.

Lease or exclusive?

There are two routes. A lease (Standard or Premium) is non-exclusive: you get the right to use the beat within set limits, and the same beat can still be licensed to other artists. An exclusive licence takes the beat off the store completely, so no one else can use it, and you get the full stems. Leases are the cheaper, faster way to get music out; exclusive is for when a beat becomes the backbone of a release you want to own outright.

Beat licensing FAQs

What's the difference between the Standard, Premium and Exclusive licence?

A Standard lease lets you use the beat within set limits on streams, sales and performances and stays non-exclusive, so others can lease it too. Premium lifts those limits and adds the track stems. Exclusive takes the beat off the store for good — it's yours alone, with full stems. The full terms for each are in the PDF on every licence.

What is a premium beat licence?

The Premium licence is the non-exclusive option with the limits lifted. You get the MP3, WAV and the track stems, with unlimited streams, sales, radio play, music videos and performances. The beat stays available to other artists, which is why it costs less than an exclusive — it's the pick for a serious release when you don't need sole ownership.

Do I own the beat after I buy a lease?

With a Standard or Premium lease you're licensing the right to use the beat within the terms, not owning it outright — the producer keeps ownership and can lease it to others. With an Exclusive licence the beat is removed from sale and only you can use it. Either way you get a PDF contract that spells out exactly what you can do.

Can I release my song on Spotify and Apple Music with a lease?

Yes. Both the Standard and Premium leases let you put your track on streaming platforms and digital stores. The Standard lease covers up to 50,000 streams and 3,000 sales; Premium is unlimited. The exact numbers are in the PDF contract on each licence.

What are stems, and which licences include them?

Stems are the separate audio tracks that make up the beat — drums, bass, melody and so on — so a mixing engineer can balance everything properly. Stems come with the Premium and Exclusive licences, not the Standard lease.

Do you make custom beats too?

Yes. If you want a beat built around your idea rather than one from the store, Simvicious produces custom beats delivered with full stems and ownership. See the custom beats page for how it works.
